To help explain the screw up....
BAWLS is the company at the fault here. When I requested sponsorship for the May event, I told them that the LAN was a 24 hour LAN party which would be on a Saturday and a Sunday May 17th and 18th. I don't know how they got May 9th (which is a Friday). So, after the mistake of the date, BAWLS created a two page ad for PC Gamer with the incorrect dates. From this mistake, a different publication called "ComputerUser" used the incorrect info from PC Gamer's BAWLS ad to help fill up their new "local events" page and listed the same incorrect date. So, one mistake became two. Both BAWLS and ComputerUser have be notified of this error and both will display the correct info for June's event. Hopefully this doesn't happen again.
We fill up these LANs without the help of these type of listings but, it sure helps get more sponsorships if we are "in print". Now we can get big name sponsors to start knocking on our door for the opportunity to sponsor our events. Look for some bigger named sponsors for our future events....
